Recently I received considerable amount of money added to my paycheck. I have been waiting 6 months for this commission check even after the 40% that was taken out in taxes it was still a nice chunk. As soon as it was in my bank account, I ran to the student store on campus and bought a brand new 13 inch 2.53GHz MacBook Pro! I have been without a reliable computer for over 4 months now. Anything I have done online has been via the iphone. It is so great to be able to read blogs, twitter, etc on something other than a touchscreen phone.

Along with the MacBook I also ordered a new DSLR. Several months ago I asked for some advice on which camera I should get to play with. Thanks to these ladies: Kyla Roma & Racheliza I finally decided to go with the Canon EOS Rebel XSI 12.2 Megapixels. So I went on the hunt. I got on Amazon first, they were reasonably priced, but I knew I could find them cheaper on Ebay. After a few days of searching and watching. I came across this listing. So I placed a bid. I was outbid 3 or 4 times, and finally with 2 minutes left I made one last bid. A few minutes later I received an e-mail telling me I WON! I’ve never bid on anything on Ebay before! I was so excited. Maybe a little too excited. I went ahead and payed for it through Pay Pal and patiently waited for it to arrive.
A few days later I received a note on my door, apparently I needed to be home to sign for the package, and they wouldn’t leave it at my door. So I went to the post office the very next day to pick it up. It took them 25 minutes to find the package. This is what they came out with. Needless to say I was ticked. The lady at the counter only said, well hopefully whatever it is isn’t ruined–they didn’t put any insurance on it. This was when I bit my lip. What I wanted to say probably would have gotten me banned from the post office. So I bit down, smiled and walked out.
I got back to my office and tore the box open. Literally -tore it up- I was so pissed that this is the shape I got the box in. It all lifted when I pulled out the actual camera box. I was amazed to see this:
Yes you read that box correctly. That’s a Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.5 Megapixel with an EF-S 18-55 IS lens. My mood lifted and I was ecstatic. I just purchased a brand new in the box with all the parts (minus a memory card) camera that should have run for almost $1000 ($975 to be exact) for less than $600 with shipping!! Ebay seller screw up FTW!!
Also with this commission check I also purchased a new bed comforter. It’s a beautiful Michael Kors bedding set in Tokyo. It will match my bedroom perfectly and it will lighten up my room, which was my plan.

So now that I have less than $6 left to my name, I’ll say it. Merry Christmas to ME!! I’ve spoiled myself a little, but it doesn’t happen often so I’m okay with it. I’ve spent the last year attempting to pay off debt and any extra money I’ve had has gone to bills, and credit cards. For once I wanted to do something for myself. Now it’s back to counting pennies, clipping coupons, and trying to get my savings account back to a positive number.
Wish me luck!!
What items have you splurged on lately? What would you buy if you had $3700 dropped in your bank account?
